SAN DIEGO: Off in 12 Hours

  • Jul. 24th, 2008 at 4:38 PM
love comics
I have to be at the airport @ 4effing30 for check in. Yay for pre-printed passes and no carry-on. Hoping a Starbucks will be open at 5:30 so I can get my meal replacement coffee.

I will be taking and posting pix throughout. Taking a cue from Cris Butcher, here's where to find them:

I hope no one expects awkwardly posed shots of me grinning next to Darwyn Cooke--I'm  gunning for Steve Silver. I'm stoked about seeing Lauren Faust after ten years. (Well, I saw her three years ago, but, get this, I was shy about saying hello.)

For the last time before take-off, here's my signing schedule and fantastic sponsors:

FRIDAY:
Image 2729 for Comic Book Tattoo 1PM
Papercutz 2046, 2048 4PM
I'll be sitting with [info]kadymae and Ralph at the Eisners

SATURDAY

SUNDAY

I am the proud bearer of sponsorships from these folks:

Good luck, Lea-chan.
I'm here in LA for the first time in 7 years, missing Comic-Con. Que ironico, because you're going, after all your years cursing Comic-Con for its sexism and its commercialism.

Last year was it for me. Too big, too lacking in the essential element of fun. Staying in a hotel in Mission Valley, dealing with the lack of trolley service later in the evening, having to spend money on cabs when you miss the last trolley.

I hope they treat you well down there. You are one of the most talented artists in comics. In some respects, they don't deserve you. I hope you rock the town. Oh yeah: the Tin Fish across from the Convention Center makes great grilled and fried Baja-style fish and mariscos. Decent price too. Enjoy some for me, OK?

We are bringing cameras and laptop. I may stalk you for photos.

I have a nice camera (and a little bit of photography talent), so that may be a good thing.

Also, lunch/dinner/snack is still a go, if you arent' all booked up.
