Friday is OSCAR WILDE DAY!

  • Nov. 21st, 2008 at 9:07 PM
roaring dragon, spore, monster friday
Another commission to inspire you people considering getting one, and to excite all in the queue!

But first: I bought a nice new bag today (kiss the almighty 40% off coupon!). I was going to soon, but Summer's cat TinTin forced the issue by leaving a lake of piss on my nice, lady-like computer bag.
It's the kind of cat piss smell that Jesus would just shrug at and say, "Are you sure you wouldn't like some wine? Fishes? Loaves? I could cater your son's entire seventh grade class lunch (think of how popular he'll be), but this piss smell is here to stay."

Today was awesome for another reason (she types as she hugs the new bag and hisses at the cats). I became the latest artist to join Steve Getti's amazing art gallery "Hey Oscar Wilde! It's Clobberin' Time!!!" HOWICT is a collection of art of literary figures, real and fictional, authors and characters by the best artists in their respective fields, and they are all AWESOME!
Holy crap, I'm in it!

Steve commissioned me to do whatever I wanted, heaven love 'im. My piece was inspired by Ysabeau S. Wilce's books FLORA SEGUNDA and FLORA'S DARE. I fell madly in love with FLORA as soon as I read it, I started drawing the characters on the flight home from San Francisco this last August.

You need to go to Amazon and get yourself these books Right Damn Now.

Thanks for having me, Steve!

My notes on the characters and neepery on the media used can be found at my deviantART page!

Beautiful piece for a great collection: I've been a fan of Steve's theme ever since he started sharing what he got from artists for it. Thanks for the look!

That's great! It's even more fun than the adventures of sailor Xalan, and that was quite something.

What a cool picture!

I'm not familiar with the story: is that fan a weapon? She sure wields it like one.

Also, she reminds me of both Eliza Legan from Candy Candy and Izumi Himuro from Princess 9.

Hadn't even thought about how very shojo Flora's curls are, but you're right. They're drawn how they were described in the book.

The fan is a weapon, but socially and in combat. Flora actually paid attention in charm classes and has a charming (and sometimes withering) way with fan language.
